In a remarkable step by QS to further engage with students in India, it has partnered with FICCI to conduct the very first national initiative to survey students in the country. Taking inspiration from the UK’s National Student Survey and other initiatives from countries which attract international students, QS and FICCI are venturing on an ambitious pathway to collect, analyse and present student satisfaction data from member institutions. This will help to enhance recognition of universities that have satisfaction levels on par with global players.
Why a QS and FICCI partnership?
QS has been conducting student surveys for over a decade. The QS Applicant Survey runs worldwide, collecting over 15,000 responses from international students annually. More recently, QS has been conducting a student satisfaction survey for its rigorous QS Stars audit system, in which it queries at least 20% student population in an institution to reveal their satisfaction with the institution as well as faculty members. This survey is implemented in over 60 countries, including India, at key universities that undergo the audit.
FICCI is the largest and oldest apex business organisation in India. A non-government, not-for-profit organisation, FICCI is the voice of India's business and industry. This service would add unique value to their member institutions.
In this strategic partnership with QS and FICCI, the Indian Student Survey (ISS) is provided to member institutions of FICCI at no charge. The pilot edition will begin in September 2017 and run until October/November 2017, as required. A presentation on preliminary results and survey reach will be delivered at the FICCI Higher Education Summit in November 2017, followed by a detailed report the following month.
